The Annual Dinner for the Built Environment

James (Owen) ‘refurbishes’ an annual property event for The City.

The Dinner for The Built Environment (formerly the Facilities managers Dinner) is an annual Livery dinner held by The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers to celebrate the people, projects, concepts, and innovations leading the way in construction and property services in London.

In 2011 James (Owen) was asked to take the helm of The Pattenmaker’s annual dinner for Facilities Managers. The event had had a core following since its beginnings in the 1980s, however it was in need of a ‘refurb’. So with a new name, more focused and relevant agenda, renewed vigour, and gratefully received support from Kier the Company’s Annual Dinner for the Built Environment was reborn!

In essence, The Dinner for The Built Environment is an annual Livery dinner held by The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers to celebrate the people, projects, concepts, and innovations leading the way in construction and property services in London.

Since James took over, the event has focussed on a variety of themes with a commonality based on celebrating London’s evermore sustainable built environment. The Pattenmakers have enjoyed  speeches from one of The Lord Mayor’s Sustainable City Award Winners, Avalon Pro on how city buildings are constructed, cleaned, and maintained by rope access; from British Gas discussing The Green Deal and it’s affect on our housing stock; from Hopkins Architects discussing the Olympic Velodrome’s credentials as one of the greenest stadiums ever built in the world; and in 2013 from the Programme Director, Andrew Mitchell and  CEO Andrew, Wolstenholme of Crosssrail on Europe’s largest construction project.
